Writing the Rainbow

If you were to disregard all of the file folders, books and scribbled Post-It notes, one of the first things you'd notice about my office is my fondness for The Wizard of Oz. Along the walls and bookshelves are postcards of Dorothy and The Wicked Witch, a stuffed Scarecrow and a Cowardly Lion hand puppet. There's also an 18-inch rainbow on my desk. It's really a candleholder, a simple black ornamental bridge with small glass votives of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. To me it is a symbol of hope and inspiration, a reminder of how color became my muse.

The road to rainbows

Like many writers, there was a time when my words did not flow, flow, flow onto the paper, a time when I would have welcomed a pair of ruby slippers just so I could click myself three times out of the Writers Block Woods and into the Creative Light. Then one day I walked into a metaphysical shop and found my muse. There along one large, sunny window were over 100 square glass bottles, each containing two different-colored layers of liquid. They mesmerized me with their gem-like brilliance.

This was my introduction to Aura-Soma, an holistic therapy which uses the healing energies of colors, plants and crystals. Instinctively, I reached for "Gabriel", the blue-over-violet bottle. By applying the oily contents to my throat and temple, my communication abilities would be greatly improved, it was explained. What's this--a writer's miracle in a bottle? Intrigued, I brought "Gabriel" home and after only a few applications, I found myself enjoying what I can only describe as a creative high.

An ancient method

Now that I have spent many years researching the benefits of color, I'm not surprised "Gabriel" worked so well. "Color is a powerful tool," author Lori Reid wrote in ther book, Color Book: Use the healing powers of color to transform your life. "It acts on our bodies, minds, and emotions, triggering deep and subtle responses on a subconscious level."

Within each of us are spinning wheels of energy called chakras which correspond to a specific color of the spectrum, as well as an emotional issue. Red (root chakra, located at the base of the spine) is used for energy, grounding and passion. Orange (sacral chakra, located two inches below the navel) promotes joy and sexuality. Yellow (solar plexus chakra, located below the breastbone) helps counteract depression and stimulates mental activity. Green (heart chakra, located at the center of the chest) represents compassion and healing. Blue (throat chakra, located at the throat) deals with peace, communication and artistic expression. Indigo (brow chakra, located at the third eye area, between the brows) activates intuition. Violet (crown chakra, located at the crown of the head) represents spirituality and inspiration.

Since ancient times, color has been used in physical, mental and emotional healing. It is said that Hippocrates applied his medicine in rooms painted in soothing colors and used different colored salves and ointments as treatment. In ancient Egypt, China and India, individuals were dipped in colored pigment or bathed in light that was filtered through colored-glass windows. Today color is introduced by using crystals and visualization, wearing a particular color clothing to absorb color physically, applying colored lights or oils to the skin, eating colored foods and drinking colored water. One can also receive different color vibrations through music.

Color your world

How would you describe green to your readers? Before you write, visualize your setting and try to see, feel and smell the green. Say you are writing a short story about a young girl living in an old country cottage in Ireland. Is the color of the grass and trees an emerald or Kelly green? Does the grass feel dry or wet? How do you convey the smell of the countryside? Is green an earthy, clean smell? Is it sweet and slightly minty or antiseptic-smelling like pine?

"Becoming aware of the effects of color means that we can make use of its positive benefits to lift our spirits, to unlock our creative imagination, to enhance our environment and to improve our image, our well-being, and our lives," says Reid.

Did you know that if you write on a yellow note pad with blue ink, you can enhance both your communication and creative skills? Think about what you wish to communicate to your readers. Is it anger? Joy or pain?

Once you understand the excessive and deficient qualities associated with each color, you can write stories with more interesting, more believable characters. In her book, Color and Crystals: A Journey Through The Chakras, author Joy Gardner provides an excellent example of someone who has too much red energy:

"This wealthy perfectionist is the owner of a California restaurant chain. He rules his employees like a commanding general. He is nervous and chronically constipated. He owns three cars, which give him little satisfaction. He sleeps with many women, but it's an empty experience."

Gardner describes the rainbow colors and their related excessive energies as Red--greedy, egotistic, domineering, sexually indiscriminate; Orange--emotionally explosive, aggressive, manipulative, over-indulgent; Yellow--judgmental, workaholic, perfectionist, overly intellectual; Green--demanding, possessive, moody, melodramatic; Blue--arrogant, self-righteous, dogmatic, addictive; Indigo--egomaniac, proud, religiously dogmatic, authoritarian and Violet--psychotic, depressed, destructive.

An outstanding example of a red personality is the aptly named Scarlett O'Hara, the fiery heroine from "Gone With The Wind". Talk about attention-getters! Scarlett was stubborn and temperamental, a woman who demanded everything the world had to offer. Nothing could stop her from achieving her goals, not death and destruction nor the scorn and wagging tongues of the local citizens. If she had to steal her sister's beau, murder a Yankee or toil in the fields, well, so be it. She would not be defeated.

In the end, Scarlett had amassed great wealth and had rebuilt her beloved Tara, but she had suffered great losses as well. Her daughter was dead and her husband, Rhett Butler, clearly didn't give a damn and was heading out the door. But we just know that Scarlett got Rhett in the end. Why? Because she never, ever quit. She knew what she wanted and she would fight the devil himself to ensure that she got it. Scarlett O'Hara was the ultimate survivor. Surely, if she had had a personal mantra, it would have been: "It's all about me!"

A writer's meditation

Sit or lie in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on a beautiful white sandy beach. The sun is directly overhead and its rays are brilliant and warm as they flow from the top of your head and throughout your body.

Let your toes feel the cool, Caribbean blue waters. See yourself staring out to sea, mesmerized by the dancing rhythm of the waves. Watch the seagulls fly above you, then see them dive into the sparkling water. You feel at peace here. After awhile, you notice a huge wave coming toward you but you are not afraid. The water comes close to your hand and when the wave is gone, you see it has left you a wondrous gift.

Glowing like jewels on the sand are seven different colors of seaglass. You pick up the red seaglass first and hold it in the palm of your hand. Stare into the seaglass and imagine you are becoming smaller and smaller until you are surrounded by the red seaglass. Feel the warmth and energy of the color red. Red is the first color of the rainbow. It is the color of passion and enthusiasm and survival. Red helps you obtain your material needs.

Now pick up the orange-colored seaglass. Orange is the second color of the rainbow. Look into the seaglass and become the color orange. Orange is a joyful color. With orange, you feel happy about your decision to become a writer and you will not allow anyone or anything to dampen your enthusiasm.

Now pick up the yellow-colored seaglass and feel the power of yellow surround you. Yellow is the third color of the rainbow. Yellow gives you better confidence in your writing abilities, no matter how many rejection slips or criticisms you receive.

Place the green-colored seaglass into your hand. Green is the fourth color of the rainbow. It is the color of harmony and balance and peace. When you are hurrying to meet deadlines for books and articles, visualize the color green and your balance will be restored.

Pick up the blue-colored seaglass and become the color blue. Blue is the fifth color of the rainbow and offers you creativity and communication. Blue helps you perceive the truth and to conquer writer's block.

Now pick up the indigo-colored seaglass. This is the sixth color of the rainbow. Indigo is the color of intuition, your inner voice that tells you to "go for it". You need to trust your intuition if you are to realize your potential and become a successful writer.

Now there is only one seaglass left to explore, the violet-colored one. Violet is the seventh color of the rainbow. It is the color of faith. No matter how difficult your life may get, faith never lets you give up on yourself. In your journey as a writer, remember the color violet and your abilities and opportunities will improve.

Now slowly open your eyes and when you are ready, take your favorite colored pen or pencil in hand and write a page in your personal color journal, knowing that the power of the seven colors of the rainbow has made you into a better and more creative writer.

Are you ready to do some rainbow writing? Try these exercises now:

1. Write about a red place, object or character. OR write a cover letter to an agent, describing why he/she should take you on as a client. What are your accomplishments? Why are you certain your book or article will sell?

2. Write about an orange place, object or character. OR write about the first time you knew you really wanted to become a writer. Then write how you felt when you received your first criticism or rejection letter. Were you angry? Sad? Suicidal? How did you resolve the situation?

3. Write about a yellow place, object or character. OR write a movie synopsis of your life. Is it a poignant drama, comedy or psychological thriller? Which actor portrays you? Would you give your life story a General, PG-13 or R rating?

4. Write about a green place, object or character. OR write a poem about a time when you really loved something or someone. How did you express your love? Was it returned or rejected?

5. Write about a blue place, object or character. OR interview yourself as if you are already a successful writer. What suggestions would you give to a beginning writer? How have you managed to keep your name at the top of the bestseller lists? How do you avoid writer's block? Do you network with other writers?

6. Write about an indigo place, object or character. OR write a dialogue in which a small child is describing your present surroundings to an older blind person.

7. Write about a violet place, object or character. OR in first person, create a Cinderella-like fairytale where your greatest desire is to attend the most famous writers conference in the country. What are your adversities? How do you eventually get to the conference? Describe the general layout of the conference. Whom do you meet there? What questions do you ask your favorite author? What lessons do you learn? (Begin your story with "Once upon a time I was...")

Creating a personal color journal

Once I was angry with a person whom I felt had treated me unfairly. Since I was already "seeing red", I instinctively reached for a red pen and began to write passionately, wildly, about the injustice of it all. Had I been trying to "chill", I would have grabbed my "cool blue" pen instead. But in this situation I needed to express my anger--to really feel the emotional power of it--and that is why I chose to "be" red for that journaling session.

As you might expect from someone with an Oz collection, one of my major philosophies in life is to have fun, so I suggest the more colorful you can make your journal, the better. Choose either a large spiral notebook in your favorite color or seven different notebooks to reflect each hue of the rainbow and its corresponding emotion. If you are feeling depressed on the day of your journal entry, you need to add more red, so you will write this entry in red because red is the antidote to blue.

To get you started, here are nine colorful journaling prompts:

1. On the top of each page, write and complete this sentence: "The color I feel today is _______________________ because..."

2. Describe how you generally feel about the color red (or orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo or violet) and why.

3. Using the color red, complete this affirmation: "Today I have..."

4. Using the color orange, complete this affirmation: "Today I feel..."

5. Using the color yellow, complete this affirmation: "Today I can..."

6. Using the color green, complete this affirmation: "Today I love..."

7. Using the color blue, complete this affirmation: "Today I speak..."

8. Using the color indigo, complete this affirmation: "Today I see..."

9. Using the color violet, complete this affirmation: "Today I know..."

Dive write in, the aura's fine

Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Indigo. Violet. These seven colors are powerful tools for writers. So if you've lost your muse somewhere along the yellow brick road and don't have a pair of ruby slippers to find it, look to the rainbow and you'll discover that writing is an even greater adventure when it's not all black and white.

Authentic Japanese Houses

Japan boasts of latest housing styles developed with state-of-the art as well as with the legacy of age-old tradition. The spectacular view of these houses can easily capture one's mind at the very first glance. They have a unique look and natural aura altogether vibrant with sophisticated use of traditional materials like timber and paper. These houses, be they modern or traditional, are usually of not more than two stories.

According to the age-old Japanese construction style, timber buildings are supposed to last twenty years without refurbishing or remodeling. However, one of the great disadvantages of such houses is its depreciation level. It is very high in comparison to the American houses which appreciate in value.

The basic difference between authentic Oriental and Western housing styles lies in the plan of the interior. The usages of the entrance or the Gencen are similar to the western idea of a porch or entry. Apart from that the kitchen or Daydokaro, the washroom or bath, which is Sentho and the restroom or Benzaw do have specific areas dedicated to them. The space is usually left at large to be used as per the need of the homemaker.

The requirement of designated rooms is fulfilled by dividing the large space left to be used. They apply Fusouma that is a sliding door for this purpose and utilize the space in customized way to create dining or living hall. Fusouma is made of timber and substantial paper called Oaashi. These doors are easy to dismantle and remove when not in use.

Traditionally in larger houses there used to be one room called Eema, which was large enough to be partitioned as required. Other essential rooms were on another side, each as an addition to the main construction. The corridor, which had timber terrazzo, ran along the boundary of the house. Unlike the general windows, here they were made of again timber and paper. For this they used the Shozee variety of paper, which was transparent enough to pass the daylight.

The most up-to-date technique of housing of the 21st century also follows the original Japanese trend of having a single room. It is called Oaashitsou. They hardly keep any furniture in this room. Instead, they use tataami mats. These mats are made of solid straw and rushes. It is strong enough to withstand the body weight of a person. Japanese people use them as a comfortable substitute of timber or stone bed.

Classically Japanese in design, from the entrance you need to take one step up to get into the house. According to the Japanese tradition, a guest usually leaves his shoes or slippers outside the door or entrance pointing towards the road. It only requires the person to slip his feet inside and he would be on his way once he is done with visiting. However, this does not mean that shoes are not worn inside. There are indoor slippers for this purpose.

The basic furnishing of a Japanese food preparation area goes this way - a heater with small stovetop, broilers and a fridge. There is a specific place for catering foods along with a sink to wash the utensils and edibles.

The washroom is furnished with a bathtub. Generally they are water-resistant. For shower, there is an adjoining area in the same room. Bath water is kept clean of soap residues and body filth, because in Japan people usually re-utilize that water for cleaning clothes or other purposes. So they wash the muck out of the bathing area regularly.

Toilets and latrines are incorporated with both Western styled commode and squat ones. The area of this room is same as the usual toilets. There are special slippers meant to be used for this area only.

The traditional heating device Kothaatsu is actually a table with heating equipment lying at its bottom. In winter, people gather around it to enjoy the heat. A blanket surrounds the table to trap the heat for more comfort.

How to Keep Your Carpet Clean Even With Kids in Your Home

When you have children, it can be hard to keep the house clean, but one part of the house that takes a direct hit is the carpet.

Kids are notorious for tracking in a variety of messes and the carpet - no matter its color or previous condition - suffers because of it. But there are some things you can do to help kids and clean carpets live in harmony.

First, have a no-shoes policy. It's become more and more common for people to take their shoes off as soon as they enter someone's house, or even before. Don't worry about what people will think. Be firm about this rule, and apply it evenly to adults and children so you don't discriminate.

By making sure shoes aren't worn in the house, you are also ensuring that the carpets get spared from whatever might be on someone's shoes, like oil, dirt or grass. If you feel uncomfortable asking guests to remove shoes, you can offer them a pair of slippers from a basket near your door.

Second, don't assume that if the kids are running around the house in socks, that's fine for the carpets. Some kids will run outside in their socks, and then come back in house. Their socks are now as dirty as a shoe might be. Check the bottoms of the kid's socks periodically and if they are dirty, make them change their socks.

Vacuum often, as in just about every day. Contrary to some people's beliefs, vacuuming does not wear down the carpet, but actually benefits the carpet. Do it often to keep the dirt from soaking into the fibers (making it very hard to get clean). If there are stains on the carpet, you're more likely to see them when vacuuming the carpet (when you're looking directly at it) than when you're walking all over it. Then you can deal with the stains as you see them and before they become harder to get out.

Finally, get your carpets cleaned regularly. Many people wait until they see dirt and stains to clean their carpets, but cleaning them before you see the dirt is a better idea. Your carpet, which is a big investment, will last longer. Experts recommend getting carpets cleaned about every 6 months, when you do your regular heavy cleaning.

If you follow these steps, you can have light colored carpet, pets and children and all can live peacefully together.

Stop Your Dog From Chewing Things

Stop your dog from chewing things such as shoes, slippers, pant legs, furniture legs and more or allow it to put you in a state of depression. For god sakes it even wants to chew on your hands and feet.

Is this normal, will the dog ever grow out of it? It is normal if you allow it to happen. He may grow out of it but not before he can create some real damage. Actually he does not grow out of it. You probably keep after it until it finally does quit. Not before some great damage has been done.

You may even be contributing to his chewing by things you are doing with him. You may have good intentions but the road to hell has been paved with good intentions. I am not saying your dog is a creature from hell like some might be thinking. Maybe even yourself. No your dog is just being a dog without proper training.

I myself have seen dogs chew the stuffing out of a brand new sofa, chew up good shoes and do a job on the legs of a wooden table and chair set. Holy Christmas there must be something that can be done with a creature like that. Visitors come in, only to swear not to go back because their hands are sore from the dog continuously biting them.

The dog does not know any better. It thinks it is playing, socializing, so to speak. You need to take control of your household and set the dog straight. You must do it before you have no friends not to mention footwear and furniture.

There is a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. You do not want to end up hating the dog or having it hate you. Dog trainers can be quite expensive but there is an alternative. You can be taught how to deal with your dog.

So get on the ball and take control of your life. Get your friends back and save the furniture. Stop that dog from chewing things up. There is help out there, it is just up to you to get it.

Top 10 Hair Dying Mistakes

Whether you want to want to get rid of that gray hair or you just want to have a new look, dying is a good way to achieve it. Unfortunately, hair dying entails consequences that may damage and dry your hair when used inappropriately. The selected color of your dye should blend with the original color of your hair and eyebrows and to enhance your features. Experimenting is good, but dyes can be rough on your hair when used frequently. Although it is best to dye at a professional salon or stylist, it is much cheaper at home with the same creative effect. Before you see the top 10 hair dying mistakes, it is important to have an understanding of the different types of hair dye that are available so you can put them in context.

Types of Hair Dye

1. Permanent hair dye

While dying your hair permanantly is, by some, considered in and of itself a mistake, the obvious benefit is that it lasts for a considerable time. As the hair grows, it is applied to the roots. It contains ammonia and peroxides, which can possibly cause dryness and damage. Exposure to the sun and salt water will cause the color to fade. Thats why in order to maintain the color, it is best to cover your hair by using a hat or bandanna when going outside.

2. Long-lasting Semi-permanent

As the name implies, has the longest life remaining even after more than 20 washes, depending on the brand.

3. Semi-permanent

These have the shortest lifespan for dyes. After 6-12 washes, the color will start to fade. This is recommended for first-time users and those who want to experiment with colors.

How to dye your hair safely and professionally:

- Separate hair into two quadrants. Then clip each part.

- Wear plastic gloves while mixing dye solution. Follow the directions written on the box.

- Squeeze a small amount of coloring into one quadrant. Streak thin stripes of color over the whole area of the quadrant. Put a clip on the colored part.

- Repeat the process after you have completed coloring the four quadrants.

- Consult instructions on how long you should leave it. Add a couple of minutes of wait to that of the suggested treatment time.

- Put on left over color mix to the entire head after a few minutes.

- Rinse with cold water.

Top 10 hair dying mistakes!

- Number 10: Applying dye to dirty, tangled hair

Deep condition your hair a month before dying to maintain color. Be sure your hair is relatively clean before applying. Trim hair especially dry and split ends to even out color. Hair should be slightly damp when dye is applied.

- Number 9: Using hair conditioner before you dye

Do not condition your hair a few hours before applying hair dye, shampooing will do the trick. Your hair needs to be free of free radicals such as dirt and oil as much as possible.

- Number 8: Choosing hair dye based on what the model on the box looks like

Consult the local salon or stylist on what colors would look best on you. The hair dye you choose should have the same tone as your skin color.

- Number 7: Forgetting to check for allergic contents

After choosing a brand, apply a tiny amount of hair dye near your neck or behind your ear to see if irritation, redness, inflammation, allergy, hair loss or any bad reactions occur. Wash the affected area right away if this happens. Remember the instructions carefully. Do the patch test 1-2 days before hair dye application.

- Number 6: Doing your entire head without testing a small amount of your hair first

Do a strand test by applying a bit of dye to a few stands of your hair to see if you got the right color.

- Number 5: Staining your skin or clothes

Protect your skin by wrapping a towel around your neck as the dye can irritate your skin or affect your clothes. Gloves should be used and must be included in a hair dye kit. Applying petroleum jelly or cream around your ears and neck part will keep off stains. Wipe off oil after shampooing. If you do happen to stain your skin, don't worry, rubbing alcohol will remove dye stains from your skin

- Number 4: Picking a color that does not fit with your natural hair color

Pick a color one shade lighter when dying your roots. This will make the transition from your colored hair back to your natural hair color graceful without roots that are a completely different color sticking out. Obviously, this rule does not apply if you are dying your hair a completely different color than your natural hair color.

- Number 3: Losing hair

After dying, always rinse with cold or tepid water to avoid your own hair from falling out.

- Number 2: Over-dying hair

If you did not achieve the desired effect, using Liquid Tide can correct this. A couple of days of use will lighten the color until your hair returns to the original color. Instead of over-dying, do touch-ups every four to five weeks to keep your hair color picture perfect.

- Number 1: Dying eyebrows and eyelashes

Never use hair dye on eyebrows and eyelashes! Ask for medical help when dye gets into your eye.

Dearfoams Women's DF592 Slipper

Petal pink and made of soft microfiber terry, these closed-back slippers from Dearfoam will keep your feet warm and snug and pretty all the way through breakfast. The slipper is subtly styled with soft pink flower embroidery on the vamp and a pink satin stripe covering the back seam. Supple rubber soles will keep you secure as you sneak up on your day.
Customer Review: Nice and Cozy
I think these slippers are great. They're very soft and cushy and I like the non-skid rubber soles. I didn't want scuffs or low back slippers because I go up and down stairs a lot and feel the backs on these are safer. Only caveat is the fit: they're very true to size. I wear an 8.5 and ordered an 8 because I thought the 9 might be too loose. I find the 8 a bit snug - wish they offered half sizes. Haven't washed them yet so I don't know if they shrink. Not worth the money and effort to exchange them, but if I had to do it over again, I'd order a half size larger.
Customer Review: Small
Ordered these for my wife. She wears a size 7 but the slippers were TOO SMALL (both). Consider ordering a size larger or another product.

Nail fungus is a common infection which could be affecting you. If you are suffering from toe nail fungus, you might hesitate to use a natural cure for toe nail fungus. You may be wondering if a natural cure really can provide good results. Here's what you should know about natural cures for toe nail infections.

Natural Products

There are a lot of natural products for fungal infections. A couple of them really do work. There are however a variety of natural ingredients that have been identified to work well against nail fungus. Different products may contain different ingredients with varying amounts of extracts and levels of potency.

What's In The Box - The key to finding out which product works best is to research about the various components of an anti-fungal product. Many product websites can give you a head start through their ingredient pages. From there you can easily perform your own research to determine the natural ingredients' treatment properties.

It's not an easy condition to cure, though. It can cling for many months even if you apply a topical solution consistently. It can even go away for awhile only to come back again. Once you pick a natural product to use against it, make sure you use it regularly as indicated. It is also best to use a natural product as early as possible. A toe nail fungal infection that has progressed to the advanced stages may be extremely difficult to treat. You may have to settle for having the infected nail removed.

Prevention and Self-Care

Prevent It - You shouldn't just rely on a natural cure for toe nail fungus. The best first step against toe nail fungus is to try and prevent it in the first place. If you still manage to get infected, you should strive to contain it in its early stages. Here are some tips for natural toe nail fungus prevention and self-care.

- Make sure that you always have dry feet. Use a clean towel to keep your feet dry. Fungus love moist places and moist nails. This could be one of the reasons for infection or a worsening of an initial infection.

- Don't walk on barefoot. This is especially important when you use public showers or go to pools. Walking barefoot is the easiest way to catch a fungal infection in public places where there is a lot of water. If you have to go to wet area, always wear rubber sandals or slippers.

- Trim your nails. You should however avoid trimming too close to the skin or flesh. Doing so could result in skin cuts that could leave an opening to the nail bed. This is the perfect entrance for fungi.

- If you have to go to a salon, be very picky. The tools used to clean your toe nails could also carry fungi that could transfer to your toes. Pedicure tools should be clean and even sterilized.

- Avoid wearing nail polish if you already have an infection. Polishing your toe nails could become tempting because you want to cover up. Nail polish however could further trap moisture in and promote the development of the fungi.

Check out the best natural cure for toe nail fungus. Treat your ugly toe nail fungi now.

Sometimes hitting a plateau can set motivation aside. It's sometimes really hard to lose weight on diet and exercise alone. Atro-Phex may be the answer. This supplement has helped many people lose weight and get toned such as 8 time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman. The truth is you don't need to be a bodybuilder to take a product like this. Atro-Phex helps people show their true definition. BSN has been in the industry for a long while, and knows what it takes to make a great product.

Back in June 2008 I just wasn't seeing results, so I decided to take Atro-Phex for a test run. The results shocked me. As the product says the first day you notice an increase in mental and physical focus. I sure did. When I started I took one capsule twice a day, then the next day went to two capsules twice a day. The caffeine may be overwhelming for some at the start, but I noticed it calms down after a while. I drink coffee daily so it wasn't overwhelming at all. I was noticing a consistent fat loss just after a week! I really liked the constant non fluctuating results. I even had some cheat meals, and didn't gain any fat.

The product does really a good job of suppressing appetite. I was quite surprised. I'm usually always craving the foods that I shouldn't eat, and thus hinder my results. At the beginning of June I only had one or two cheat meals planned, and I thought that might be unrealistic, and go up to 5 or 6 cheat meals. Throughout the month I really did stick to my plan - I had two cheat meals. I didn't have any cravings at all. There was a huge increase on my mental focus. It was totally different from anything I've ever experienced before. I really was focused on my goals, and nothing stopped me from reaching them.

After a month of using Atro-Phex I went from 186.6lb to 172.8lb! Almost 3% bodyfat was lost also. That was quite the accomplishment for me. I did lose more than I should have (weight loss doesn't always mean fat loss), and may have lost some muscle as a result. I don't think it was excessive though. The key for the product to work is you need a sound diet in place, have a good exercise plan, and get plenty of rest. BSN hit a home run with this product.

I hope this Atro-Phex Review gave you some insight to the power of BSN's products.

Newbie Internet Marketer, today we are going to talk a little bit about relevance.

If this is the first time you are hearing this term, get used to it, because this term is going to be one of the key things you need to understand if you plan on becoming successful. Many Newbie Internet Marketers think that the product is the key to sales. While the product needs to be a good one, it doesn't matter if the page that your audience lands on is not relevant-meaning, it has nothing to do, or little to do with the product.

If you are looking for purple fuzzy slippers, and the site comes up talking about natural dog food, you end up leaving...that is because natural dog food is not what you were looking for. Sounds like common sense, but this is a mistake that is made by so many newbie internet marketers.

When you come up with your campaign, you need to make sure that your keywords are relevant. "Make money" may seem like a relevant keyword for internet marketing, but it may not be relevant if your person is looking for a e-book on internet marketing. "Internet Marketing e-book" would be a relevant key word group.

If you are going to use an ad campaign, you need to make sure your keyword group has relevance. Keep it to no more than 25 keywords. Anything more and your ad group risks losing relevance. Make sure the ad attached to the keywords is relevant to the keywords and the product.

Next, you need to make sure your landing page has relevance. Back to the e-book on internet marketing. Your landing page should be key word rich, but not grossly so...the page should read naturally. And then make sure the content is rich with meaningful information. Maybe the e-book page has a great review on it outlining all the benefits of the book. Remember, you are preselling, getting your reader ready to buy.

Lastly, make sure that your product is very relevant to the customer!

If you follow the golden rule of relevancy, get ready to see the dollars grow!

Jewelry incorporating a person's birthstone is a highly personalized and cherished gift. Here we examine the birthstone associated with each month of the year based on commonly accepted modern birthstone interpretations. Birthstones have a special quality for each of us because of the ancient meanings associated with them and they can be a stunning accessory.

Today birthstones are linked to calendar months and people enjoy wearing birthstone rings or birthstone pendants associated with the month of their birth. Throughout the many years, a lot of people have regarded semi-precious stones, among the many other gemstones, to exude a beautiful exquisiteness and even a bit of magical powers. As a matter of fact, there are those who have believed that these stones carry mystical powers which could be passed on by the stones to whoever wears it. Aside from these modern birthstones, there were many other applied birthstones such as the mystical birthstones, the traditional birthstones and the ayurvedic birthstones.

Associated birthstones are believed to bring luck and good fortune to the individuals. Not only luck but they are also believed to have significance to reflect a personality trait of the holders. Read this article to know more facts about the birthstones guarding your life.

Each month of the year is represented by a separate birthstone, each of which has its own distinct meaning. And the use of the birthstone as a symbol of good luck on one's birthday has a history which is said to stretch back as far as the first century. In 1912, the American national association of Jewellers - the Jewellers of America - created a standardised birthstone calendar which is now widely used across the world.

They make a stunning original accessory that's personal to you, so check out your birthstone today.

Bose noise canceling headphones have comfortably slid into first place in the music accessory market. However this could be a down fall for the average consumer. Today people arent taking the time to research what the best product for them, instead bold new advertisements are making the decision for us.

In spite of this, dutifully, Ive decided to go on the hunt for the best product in the latest craze to hit sound technology, (noise canceling headphones) and report back to the consumer. Fast on the rise of noise canceling headphones in the Sony MDR NC11, with its distinctive ear buds, this earphone doesnt just have the thumbs up in the quality of sound department but also the noise canceling feature. Small yet durable these little ear buds maybe misleading by their size but its noise canceling feature is defiantly a strong contender in this fast going market.

With the Sonys unique design, the MDR-NC11 stretches one step beyond the rest, by using a high-quality performance low-tech technique; rubber plugs. The earphones work like earplugs in a two step system by ceiling off background noise and canceling noise as theyre in use.

The idea of Sonys noise canceling earphones, on the other hand, is based on microphones that listen to the noise waves around you, along with built in circuitry built in, create sound that is the opposite of the whats going on around you. The principle is explained at http://www.cancellingnoise.com as, when a wave of sound goes up around you, the wave of sound in the earphone goes down, thus giving you almost silence.

The Sony headphones listen to the noise going on around you, and using circuitry built into the device to create sound that is the opposite of what's going on around you. So, as the wave of sound goes up around you, the wave of the sound in the headphone goes down, giving you virtual silence.

Sonys new headphone line has really outdone the rest in creating a new approach to earphones themselves, by taking on a sleek and stream line design. Voted a 7.8 out of 10 by CNET editor Steve Guttenberg this new product will give Bose a run for their money.

Dearfoams Women's Dreamtop Thong Slipper

These pillow top thongs let you feel like you're walking on air. Keep your feet cozy in this contrasting flip-flop style.

Time of the year again. Friends, family, food and lots of warmth. For most of the people meeting-up on thanksgiving is as important as the thanksgiving food. And if you have thought and planned it all ... the food, the guests, the invitations, the decorations, the preparation, a little check on your checklist - have you thought of your look for the turkey day?

If you are the hostess, you need to be very practically dressed. You would be required to cook and serve as the hostess. So your dress needs to be functional along with being pretty. Do not put on your evening's attire until you have finished cooking. It might spoil your dress. But your guests can still arrive while you are cooking. So wear knitted pants with a semi formal blouse while cooking, or wear something that is casual and chic so that you are presentable and ready to welcome your guests. After you have finished cooking, change into your thanksgiving dress and do not forget the accessories and jewelry. Dress festively, but not too loud. It would be wise to wear a jacket that can be removed if you feel hot while in the kitchen.

When you choose your dinner dress, be sure it is classy but not flashy. Being informally dressed is a great idea. The feast essentially means warmth and every aspect should compliment the warmth. You cannot be uncomfortably dressed.

Remember to keep a scarf so that you are not bothered if it is too cold or too warm. Wrapping the scarf around your neck will keep you warm, and if it gets too warm, just take it off. Match it with your dress for added fashion.

This can be slightly unusual but since you are going to be with your family or close friends, it is very likely that you would kick off your shoes and get comfortable. Have a nice pair of slippers and socks (if you are not wearing them) you can bring with you to feel more like home. And if you're staying home, well then your feet should still be on their best behavior for the day (relaxed and perfumed) - especially if relatives or friends are coming over!

For your jewelry, wear fine jewelry in diamonds or colored gemstones but do not go overboard. A great idea would be to keep it subtle and elegant. Wear solitaires and studs, they have an ageless appeal to them.

I am a jewelry enthusiast, working with a well known online e-trailing jewelry company http://www.angara.com Writing has always been the area of my interest and writing for jewelry doubles my zeal towards this creative field.

Dearfoams Women's Microvelour Closed Back Slipper

Customer Review: Comfy & cozy
This slippers do the job. They are very cozy. The only thing I would suggest is to go up a size. Other than that there are not any problems with them.
Customer Review: Great
These were a gift for my 93 year old Grandmother for Christmas and she hates to be without them! So warm and comfortable. Delivered promptly!

In this Wealthy Affiliate Review I'm going to talk about my experiences with Wealthy Affiliate and how becoming a member has increased my daily income exponentially.

Wealthy Affiliate has taken me from complete "newbie", to absolute professional internet marketer in the shortest time possible! I had some internet marketing experience previous to joining, but the information and ideas I received from this University blew my mind!

As you can already tell, I'm really passionate about Wealthy Affiliate. In fact, I'm so impressed that I have actually recommended it to my friends and my own family. It really has been essential to my online marketing success.

Of course in the beginning I was skeptical just like everyone else. I came across many claims of $300 a day, or even $1000+ a day from other members, in their Wealthy Affiliate reviews. It all sounded too good to be true. But the more research I did, the more I realized that I was going to have to bite the bullet and find out for myself. It was the only way I would know for sure if W.A. was for real. The membership fee was only the cost of a good book or two, so I figured that it was worth the risk for me.

Looking back now, that would be a defining day for me, as joining W.A. has given me the ability to create my own successful internet marketing business and work from the comfort of my own home.

What really changed my mind about Wealthy Affiliate was the fact that it's so jam-packed full of goodies! There are over 50+ lessons, video tutorials, keyword lists, one on one help, and an active forum. Also included are some really important analytic tools that have literally saved me hours of work!

The lessons and video tutorials are extremely helpful and the information contained in them is easily worth $1000's.

Though what really blew me away was the forum. The Wealthy Affiliate forum is like no other internet marketing forum that I've been a part of. People actually go out of their way to answer members questions and help each other out. People are driven not only by their own success, but by the success of other members! To me, that says it all.

Wealthy Affiliate is a great place for anyone, from beginner to advanced, that wants to earn some extra income on the side or become a full-time marketer. Of course, it isn't a money making scheme or scam, so you do have to work hard, but if you do, the potential is overwhelming.

Sedu Flat Iron - The Best Tourmaline Flat Iron You Can Buy?

Sedu irons are extremely popular and have been featured in many fashion magazines and have been endorsed by many Hollywood actresses. But, are they the best tourmaline flat iron you can buy or are other brands better?

There are two Sedu straighteners available; the Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron 1" and 1 1/2". Apart from the width of the plates they are identical. Both feature true ceramic/tourmaline plates which is what sets Sedu apart from most other brands. For one thing most other brands don't offer tourmaline but just ceramic plates and those that do, only offer a thin coating of tourmaline on top of the ceramic.

If you haven't heard of tourmaline before then let's just say that this crystal naturally emits something called negative ions when heated. Ceramic also does this but tourmaline emits up to 6 times the amount. Negative ions are beneficial for hair as they help to break down water droplets into much finer, microscopic droplets than speed up evaporation and, therefore drying time, but also the droplets can actually be absorbed into the strand of each hair. This helps to hydrate and lock in moisture leaving hair more shiny and healthy.

Apart from tourmaline, Sedu flat irons are light in weight. This is because the body is made of high-strength composite materials that are commonly used in aerospace industry. This combined with the ergonomic design of the handle means that using one is less tiring than some other brands.

There are 5 temperature settings, from 240F to 410F (120oC - 200oC) making them suitable for all hair types.

But are Sedu the best flat iron? They are an exceptional hair tool however it's definitely worth comparing them to other brands like T3, GHD, Corioliss and CHI. I'm a big fan of the Linea-Pro Corioliss C2 flat iron. This tool uses something called Nano Silver technology. Simply put, this technology kills 99.99% of bacteria, so not only is the Corioliss C2 self-cleaning it also makes your hair cleaner, which means it stays in shape and look shinier for longer.

Sedu doesn't yet make a model with Nano Silver technology. Of course, it could be argued that tourmaline is better to have. However, the point is, other brands offer some features not available in Sedu models - wet-to-dry being another example.

In summary, the hype surrounding Sedu flat iron is largely warranted. However, it really is worth looking at other tourmaline straighteners from other manufacturers like Remington and T3.

Follow the links for the Sedu flat iron. You can also compare it to other brands like GHD, Corioliss and the T3 flat iron and decide for yourself if it's the best flat iron for you.

Kidde Fire Extinguisher

Kids Spa Parties - What is Included?

I remember being a kid playing with my Barbie dolls and I would dress them up, comb their hair, sometimes paint all over them as my own type of make up or cut their hair. Imagine doing all of that not on a Barbie doll but on your friends or having a party where you and your guests are pampered?

The Spa Business is booming now to an even more younger audience as each day goes by. Spas and Salons across the nation are adding spa services for kids and teens to their menu list. Of course these services are not full services but a mini version of the spa treatment appropriate for kids. For example a manicure will be just painting the nails and not removing any cuticles, a facial might be a chocolate facial which even the kids can do themselves etc. A bit of pretend with real action.

What services are usually included in a Spa Kids Party? Usually, it is manicure, pedicure, make up and a mini facial all kid proof of course, and craft. These parties are either done at a professional salon or spa or some companies do home based parties with them decorations and all. They will bring small chairs and tables, mirrors, make up, sometimes robes and towels too. They also might include the food like pizza party or a craft either soap, lotion or facial mask making. How much is included is based on how much you are willing to spend for these parties can be pricy ($50 a child) depending where you have them at. Extras such as the robes, slippers, favor bags with soaps, shampoo kits will add on to the price.

Overall it is always a hit with the girls. They feel pampered and look great afterwards. A Nice photo shoot gives it a great final touch and you can make thank you cards later for your guests.

Who is Isabel De Los Rios?

Isabel De Los Rios may not be a wildly famous name yet, but I would bet a significant chunk of change that she's going to be. In fact, Isabel is already a well respected speaker and owns her own wellness practice. If you don't know who Isabel De Los Rios is, I think that you should because her new ebook, the Diet Solution Program, is one of the most interesting and eye-opening nutrition books I have read in quite a while.

The Diet Solution Program is the culmination of years of research and "in the trenches" hands on experience which Isabel has in the nutrition and health industry. What is important about this book is that it goes into great detail and describes the true nature of many of the foods that we eat on a regular basis and exposes the truth about many of them.

And the truth may surprise you as it had me. Some foods which are considered healthy like soy are, according to Isabel's book, far from being all that good. And there are other examples which I won't go into here for lack of space.

The Diet Solution Program attempts to educate people about the right way for them to eat according to their own metabolic makeup. Each of us is genetically different from the next, and so it's ridiculous to try and force all of us into some preconceived eating plan. We all need different amount of macro-nutrients like carbs, fats, and so on. We all need all of them to some degree, but how much we need varies, and the Diet Solution program shows us how to arrive at the right amount for us.

The Diet Solution Program is more than a weight loss book, though it can prove highly effective as one. It's a comprehensive and ecompassing healthy lifestyle volume of information which can help you alleviate or avoid any of the common diseases which plague so many people like high blood pressure and diabetes. I believe it's a must read book for any health lover.

Dearfoams Women's DF650 Slipper

Soft and pretty and ice-blue, these are the open-toe scuffs to have waiting next to the bed to greet your feet on chilly mornings. With uppers and insoles both of cushy terry, and a bendable rubber sole, these Dearfoam slippers will make your feet happy on your way to the kitchen for that first cup of coffee.
Customer Review: Plush!
I've been looking for this type of slipper for a while and couldn't find them in any store. Finally found these Dearfoams. They are so plush and comfy and I just love the colors! I will buy another pair when these wear out.
Customer Review: Light blue, open toe slippers
The Terry Scuff, Ice Blue, Medium slippers were a present for my wife. They arrived quickly, in plenty of time for Christmas, and she loves them. The open toes avoid pressing on her feet and they are very comfortable.

Does your area rug stand out (um, in a good way not a scary way) or does it seem to just disappear within your room?

The perfect area rug for you will feel like you are slipping on your favorite home slippers every time you step onto your rug.

If you feel that your area rug seems to disappear within your room, or it extremely stands out within your room (screaming here I am every time you walk into you room), or you simply are not sure what is the best area rug for your room then follow this guide on how to glamorously dress your floors (with a red carpet style fit for you):

Think of the size of your room:

if you want a cozy feeling to your room, consider a large rug to dress your floors
if you want a room to feel larger, then consider a smaller area rug (no puffy dress for your floors!)

Think of the size of your furniture within the room:

Maintain a balance by considering the size of your furniture in proportion to the size of your dress (um, I mean area rug).

For example:

in the dining room - make sure that when the seats are pulled that your chair doesn't fall off the rug.
in the bedroom - no need to invest in a huge area rug or carpet when most of the rug will be covered by your bed. Instead, try using rug tiles (www.FLOR.com) or runners to cushion your glamorous feet.

Think of the patterns within your rooms:

if you have large busy patterns, then glam your floor with a classic solid or semi-solid design patterns to maintain a color/pattern balanced design within your room.

if you have minimal design patterns within your room, then glam your floor with a "look at me" dress and choose area rugs with patterns that pick up the colors within your room.

Think of your budget:

Are you planning on bringing your "dress" to the cleaners or vacuuming it yourself? Choose accordingly.

Think of your style:

Do you want an area rug because you think it is the "correct" decorating thing-to-do or because you love the look and feel of an area rug? Some people LOVE the feel of hardwood floors. Remember decorate for your comfort, not for friends or family that stop by occasionally.

Just like jewelry or a tie can change the look of an outfit, so can a rug change the feel of a room. For example, wearing pearls with jeans or a tie with jeans can quickly upgrade your outfit (not too dressy and not too casual = a harmonious balance).

Is your personality pearls/ties with jeans, sporty, elegant, conservative? Reflect your "personality" at home and you will want to zooooom to your home every day after work not to escape from work, but to enjoy your home.

Special note: keep in mind that when decorating your room, you have to view your OVERALL design, not just one item - view how every item flows within the room (is it too big, too small, too dark, too light, too blah, etc.) Now go and glamorize - let your personality shine in your home!

Dearfoams Men's University of Kansas Clog

Ever since the Internet became available to any household with a dial-up connection, there has been the dream of easy wealth. The long-standing stereotype is the easy-going character who sits at home in his bathrobe and slippers, doing a few minutes work at his kitchen table, and spending the rest of the day out windsurfing while a river of cash pours steadily into his bank account - making him a millionaire by the time he's twenty.

How much of this is truth? How much is myth? While it's definitely not all true, some of it is quite achievable. In fact, you can get quite rich on the Internet, but it's not as easy as the hucksters and biz op sellers will try to convince you it is.

You Can Become A Millionaire On The Internet

There are many Internet marketers who have made millions of dollars selling everything from vitamins to porn to information. The Internet is a vast market, with large amounts of money changing hands over it every day.

If you can divert a large stream of that money, you can indeed become a millionaire. And yes, you can be a millionaire by the time you're twenty, but realize that this is the exception - not the rule.

It Doesn't Happen With No Work And No Money

Nothing good comes for free. Although it's true that you can start a business for a minimal amount of money, you will have to put something into your business - either money or sweat equity. You will actually have to do some work.

Of course, the nice thing is - once you've done the work of setting up your business and producing a product, in many cases you really can sit back and watch the money pour in. You still have to spend some time working on your business, but the work you do once can pay for itself over and over again.

Especially, with information products. You can write an e-book or create a video one time, set up a sales site for it, and sit back while your little vending machine pulls in a nice income for you.

You Won't Wake Up A Millionaire Tomorrow Morning

Don't expect to set up an Internet business today, and start making money tomorrow. The Internet does allow you to start making a profit much quicker the the traditional brick-and-mortar business world, but it is not instant.

You will have to spend some time building up your business. You need to set goals and plan how you will achieve them, research your market, create or find products, build websites, set up a way to collect payments and deliver your products.

All this business building does not happen overnight. But - on the Internet - you do have the opportunity to create a business that starts making a handsome profit within a few months.

You Can Work From Your Kitchen Table In Your Bathrobe And Slippers

This is not a myth, and it is the best part of Internet marketing - total freedom. You have the freedom to do as you want, to work your own hours, to choose your office space, to decide what to do. You have no boss, but yourself.

With a business on the Internet, you can work from anywhere in the world. there really are no limitations. All you need to be in business are a laptop computer and an Internet connection. Whether it's from the comfort of your home, a hotel room in Paris, a poolside on the Mediterranean, a ski chalet in the Alps, or one of the numerous Internet cafes in such far flung reaches as exotic Bali -- you can easily run your money-making Internet empire.

A business on the Internet - especially an information publishing business - is a truly global business. Your customers will be from all over the world, and you can serve them from anywhere in the world.

The Ideal Online Business Model?

In my opinion, the one Internet business that brings you closest to the dream stereotype of working in your bathrobe for a few hours and then spending the rest of the day goofing off ... is being an infopreneur. Selling information products - both downloadable ones direct from your website and physical products from a fulfillment house - give you the freedom to work as you please, where you please.

Being an infopreneur, you put some effort and time into creating an in formation product, and then it sells for a long time - creating a nice, steady income for you. You can work a few months each year - creating new products and new money-making websites - and then enjoy long vacations, while your online vending machines keep the money coming in to your bank account.

Dearfoams UF Gators Microterry Slippers

Support your favorite team in these University of Florida slippers. These clog style slippers are incredibly soft features an allover micro-terry fabrication and out sole is made for indoor or outdoor use. GO GATORS!

What clothing should you pack when you must carry all of your luggage yourself and you want to travel light ? Take a "bare" minimum of clothing with you. Dress comfortably and casually. Choose your clothing for its practicality. In warm climates loose lightweight cotton clothing will feel better against your skin than sticky synthetic fabrics and tight-fitting clothing. If you plan to visit tropical regions you can protect your skin from too much exposure to strong sunlight and disease-carrying mosquitos if you resist the urge to wear as little clothing as possible. You'll be far safer with long-sleeved shirts, high necklined tops and long trousers. Just keep to light colored, lightweight natural fabrics and loose-fitting clothes to maximize the comfort of your clothing.

Casual comfortable clothing, especially if you veer towards the sloppy, will also decrease your odds of being marked as a wealthy target by local thieves who work the tourist spots. If you want to look a bit more dressy for the evening, add a thin, weightless, colorful scarf to your simple neutral-colored day clothes. Leave your jewelry at home. It's heavy, bulky and could attract thieves. If you're a clothes horse, try to resist the urge to pack one set of clothing for casual daywear, a fancier set for restaurants at dinnertime and a third set for an elegant evening out. You'll just wear yourself out trying to be fashionable if you must drag all of these outfits around from locale to locale. Don't worry about being seen in the same set of clothing two days in a row. No one but your travel partner (or the hotel clerk) will see you more than once anyway and, if your partner is practical, he or she will also be wearing one set of clothing throughout the trip.

As to clothing choices, in general I wear one comfortable, loose-fitting pair of casual trousers and assume that if I get caught in the rain, it won't kill me. I'll dry out soon enough. I pack no spares. Extra pairs of pants or skirts can add considerably to your luggage load. Pick something in a neutral color that will go with anything else you'll be wearing. Trousers with plenty of pocket space are a plus, especially if you might be buying small odds and ends in souvenir shops, or a little junk food, as you stroll around sightseeing each day.

To travel light, I just pack one or two spare tops that are lightweight, comfortable and can easily be rolled up, as folding causes more creases than careful rolling. I pack just two pairs of underwear and socks for an entire trip. It's easy enough to wash out underwear, socks and shirts in hotel rooms and hang them up to dry for later reuse during the same trip. The choice is simple. For a two week trip you can lug fourteen pairs of underwear everywhere you go, or you can lug just two and regularly wash them out with soap and water in a hotel room sink. I suggest packing two pairs, not one, so that there is still a fresh change on hand for days when you may arrive in a place one evening and plan to move on to another town the very next morning, allowing for too little drying time. When you hit a larger city like Paris or London or Rome, where you plan to stay put for at least a couple of days, you can catch up on all your washing and know that clothing has plenty of time to dry, even if the air is damp.

Pack thin, lightweight natural cotton underwear and socks that breath and won't require as much drying time as heavier cottons or other fabrics. In summer weather clothing can dry out very quickly. In cooler damper months you might be running a radiator and that can double as a heat source for drying. Just be careful not to put wet things directly against radiators or electrical appliances and be careful, too, not to let wet items of clothing drip onto hotel room carpets. Wring clothes out well and keep them hanging in the shower until they no longer drip. Don't use new brightly colored clothing items that might drip colored dyes that can stain bathroom floors, floor mats or carpets in hotels.

Pack plenty of plastic bags. They take up little space, are weightless, and will be useful in a hundred different ways, from storing opened packaged foods to keeping your laundry well organized. For example, I'll use one bag for clean clothing such as underwear and socks, a separate bag for dirty ones (if I have to move on before clothing can be washed and dried), plus a third for items of clothing that have been washed, but are still damp when the time comes to vacate a hotel room and tackle the next leg of a journey. At the next stop they can be hung up to finish drying. By the way, washing clothes with ordinary soap eliminates the need to transport any additional type of cleaning agent.

If you'll need some sort of warmer clothing to wear on cooler days or on cool evenings, carry one item only. It can be used whenever you need it. Keep it lightweight, nonwrinkling and non-fussy. For example, a single cozy sweater or sweatshirt in a color that does not show off dirt is a very practical, soft and warm choice, far more practical that a bulky jacket (unless you're doing some real cool weather or winter traveling). When not in use, you can tie your sweater around your waist. That way you can keep it with you while you sightsee on days when the temperature is variable. If it remains tied around your waist you'll feel it less than if you add it to the weight of your backpack and it can even double as a pillow on long, drowsy train rides.

If you're traveling at a time or to a place where you'll need rain gear, a thin fold-up plastic poncho or rain coat is the least onerous thing to take with you. It can go right into your pocket and can easily be whipped out in case of a sudden shower. For city travel it's very easy to duck under awnings or into shops, making bulkier rain gear unnecessary. Sturdier rain gear or umbrellas are only needed for places where you expect serious rain or a lack of quick access to shelter.

Keep sleepwear light and minimal, as well, and if you absolutely must have slippers to wear while in your hotel room buy a pair of cheap, thin, weightless fabric slippers that can be slid into your pack without adding extra bulk.

Do not pack an extra pair of shoes. Shoes are the ultimate in unnecessary extra bulk and weight when considering travel clothing. In the movies the leading man and leading lady who are off on a journey appear in a different set of clothing and a new pair of shoes in every scene. Clearly, they are not carrying their own luggage around with them and, in fact, their bags never look quite large enough to even hold everything they wear. So much for the difference between movies and reality. I never pack extra shoes. I take my chances and figure that if my shoes get wet, I'll find a way to dry them out. I simply wear one pair of thoroughly broken in sneakers that offer good support in the soles. Nothing could be less practical than tight shoes or high heels, and the toll that they take on your feet may severely limit your enjoyment of a trip. How long can you walk around picturesque towns or stand around in museums when your feet hurt ? Wear low-heeled sturdy, but presentable, shoes with solid arch support. Wear shoes that have already been broken in and are comfortable enough for hours of daily walking but - beware - even shoes that you are accustomed to walking in daily can cause blisters when you're suddenly walking far more hours each day than normal. Keep a few bandaids or callous pads handy. Be sure that the shoes you choose for the trip are lightweight. Hold them in your hand and compare the various pairs of shoes that you're considering for the trip. When you expect to take thousands and thousands of steps each day of a trip, plus carry a backpack around each time you travel from one tourist destination to another, it's extremely counteractive to do it in a pair of shoes that themselves are heavy and require additional effort for every step that you take.

Try out some of these tips for traveling light by packing very little clothing, and then see what you think. You may never want to pack all sorts of stylish outfits again. You and your clothing can still look nice, just focus on quality and not quantity. See your clothing more for its function than for its fashion and you'll be free to enjoy the joys of traveling light.

Bunions or Hallux Valgus as this condition is commonly called in the medical community are a source of foot pain and deformity in many Americans today...particularly women.

One of the most common causes of problems of the forefoot, bunions appear as a bump at the base joint (metatarsophalangeal joint) of the big toe and often are swollen and sore. The big toe can drift over towards the remaining toes as the bunion enlarges, particularly placing pressure on the second toe. A bunion develops most often in women and is thought to be primarily related to wearing ill-fitting shoes.

Why then do women wear ill-fitting shoes since this habit can lead not only to the development of a bunion but to the development of other foot maladies such as corns, calluses, and such? Well, the answer is quite simple...to look fashionable! Seems to me, if the shoe makers of the world really wanted to have a booming business then they would design fashionable women's shoes that looked phenomenal and felt like house slippers when you put them on. But, I digress.

Even though bunions can be hereditary, most often bunions are related to wearing shoes that are too tight, too narrow and too high causing pressure on the natural anatomy of the forefoot. The joint at the base of the toe flexes with every step and continued pressure on this area causes the joint to continue to enlarge causing increasing pressure, pain, swelling and redness.

The skin over the bunion can become quite sensitive and red and may even become infected. Bunions can even get to the point when walking is difficult and surgical intervention is the only resolution.

A bunionette or Tailor's Bunion can develop on the joint of the little toe along the outside of the foot. Again the cause of the bunion is the same, most often poor fitting shoes resulting in increased pressure on the forefoot, but in this case the little toe drifts inward towards the big toe.

The very best treatment for a bunion is prevention. If that is not possible, then the next best treatment for a bunion is to wear shoes that have a wide toe box allowing ample room for the toes to move around and to avoid getting pressed together causing them to overlap.

Warm Epsom salt soaks, bunion pads, bunion night shields, bunion bandages, and even orthotics can provide temporary relief of pain but it is making the decision to wear properly fitting shoes which is the best treatment decision of all.

If you are looking for that ultimate solution to all your weight problems, then you might have been tempted to try out weight loss programs advertised over the internet. Currently, there are thousands of weight loss programs online, some effective, some fraudulent. Probably one of the popular weight loss programs today is the GNC weight loss system.

What it is

The GNC weight loss system is a 60-day weight loss program that is mainly designed to assist you in your weight loss goals. Take note, this is mainly for assisting and should not be viewed as the sole formula for your weight loss problems.

The GNC weight loss system includes three dietary supplements that function differently according to your needs. Coupled with a healthy meal plan and regular exercise, the GNC weight loss system can get you the body you've wanted in no time.

Three supplements

The GNC weight loss system consists of three supplements: Control ACS, Tonalin, CLA, and Fiber. These three aim to:

Help control appetite and calorie intake

Boost metabolism and increase energy

Plus a pill case and wellness booklet are included

About Control ACS

Control ACS is designed to help reduce food intake and control calories at the start of your diet. Apart from that, Control ACS also helps boost metabolism and energy. Made with B-Vitamins that serve to boost carbohydrate metabolism and energy production, this will help you shed the excess pounds.

Tonalin CLA

Meanwhile, Tonalin CLA is made of the popular Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). CLA is designed to suppress your appetite and to curb sugar cravings. Tonalin CLA is one the most popular products of GNC today.

Fiber

Apart from aiding in digestion, fiber also helps you eliminate unwanted toxins in the body. Also, increasing fiber intake can make you feel less hungry and therefore eat less.

Is it safe?

Although these products may work, they cannot function on their own. To maximize their effectiveness, the GNC product should be coupled with a healthy diet and exercise. Do not simply rely on weight loss products alone.

Making your online business a success comes down to three powerful Words:

  1. Organization
  2. Commitment
  3. Perseverance

Organization. Some people fall into a trap of treating their online business more like a hobby than they do an actual income-generating business. They scatter necessary print outs around the room like sections of Sunday's newspaper, they scribble important passwords down on paper as though they're writing down movie times. Then they curse the internet gods when they're locked out of a website. If you were to look at their desk, you'd swear a high school student used it rather than a "professional" web publisher or affiliate marketer.

Every single person who does business online should take a trip to Staples, Office Depot, or Office Max and stock up on items that'll bring a higher level of professionalism and organization to their home business. The following are just a few of the office supplies that I honestly don't think I could live...make that work... without:

  • Index cards and an index card box - these are simply too ideal for keeping track of login information. Every username and password I will ever need is in my index card file. As soon as I register with a new website or affiliate, I write down the url of the site, my username, the e-mail I used when I signed up, the password, and any other information I think I'll need. These short extra steps have saved my endless frustration and needless hide and seek episodes with missing passwords.
  • Sturdy 3 ring binders - Don't buy the cheap, paper folders. They'll wrinkle, tear, and look beyond terrible in just a matter of weeks. Buy the hard-back 3 ring binders. Not only will they last longer, they can be placed beautifully on bookshelves which makes them functional and attractive. I color code my binders. I'm a web publisher with over 20 websites and blogs, so organization isn't just preferable for me - it's vital. I use different colors for different niches. For example, when I write articles or find information, through research, that has to do with the field of self help, the information goes into blue binders. If the contents relate to the food industry and recipes, they go in red binders. This way when I, let's say, want to find an article I wrote Tuesday night about my favorite uses for avocados, I know the article will be in a red binder. I also know which red binder it'll be in because the most current information for each niche is in the binder on the farthest right. I know that the avocado information will be in the red binder to the right of the other red binders. I've been working online for quite a few years, and with so many websites and blogs, I have plenty of binders. If they were all the same color or didn't organize themselves in some way, I'd spend more time on hunting expeditions than actually getting work done. Binders can also be marked with dates on the side, allowing you to know what year/month the articles inside were written in. I actually don't do this, but right about now I'm wondering why!
  • A Stapler - Papers agree to stay together so much better if you give them a good reason to.
  • Marker Boards and Dry Erase Markers - I fell in love with these while homeschooling my three daughters and I haven't fallen out of love yet. They're perfect for writing great big, colorful to do lists on. Again with the color coordinating philosophy: You can assign different colors to different tasks, niches, and or types of duties. We color coordinate with a "degree of importance" in our home office. Black means, "It'd be really cool if we could do this...." Green means, "Get to it as soon as possible." Red means, "Stop doing whatever it is you think you're doing and do this instead. Stat!" As for blue... well, that's what we need from the store. I guess it represents the home in home business.
  • Always keep a good supply of ink pens on hand. It's a great waste of time - and quite frankly a headache - to have to go searching through the house for an ink pen.
  • Never run out of printer paper. Get more before you even get low. If you find something you need to print out, but you're flat out of paper, you can count on one thing - the information you needed will be long gone before you restock your paper supply.

Again, it's all about treating your business as a business - not as a hobby.

Remember, if you want your home office to be taken seriously, it starts with you. You have to take it seriously first.

Commitment. Make no mistake about it, working from home has its perks - serious perks. But there's absolutely no reason to take advantage of the situation. Commit to a certain number of hours each day that you'll work and stick to the hours. If you were working in the workplace and felt an overwhelming need for Starbucks (I understand, believe me I understand), you wouldn't be able to just stand up and take off. You might not have a job when you returned, right?! When the urge for coffee hits, go no further than the kitchen. Then get right back to work.

Those of us who work from home need to make our work a priority and commit ourselves to approaching it professionally. That means, when the urge to go somewhere hits us, we should look at the clock and see how much further it is to either our lunch break or to the end of the workday. Sure, this sounds harsh and it sounds completely different from how most of us approach our online business. But, trust me, when you treat our online business like a business more than just a hobby - it'll behave more like a business than a hobby.

I've also found that, while it's beyond tempting to work in your pajamas or gown, you'll feel infinitely more professional if you get dressed. You'll notice a difference in the way you, yourself, approach your work. It's just another little way you let your brain know that you're more than a little serious about this.

A final thought about commitment: Your television should be off during work hours. No exceptions.

Be committed. Be professional.

Perseverance. No matter what you may have read on a guru's site or heard a guru say, "overnight success" belongs in the same category as poison apples, glass slippers, and magic wands: Fairy Tales. Anything worth having has to be worked for and, very often, fought for. That's why it's so very important to find a niche you love, because you're going to be spending a great deal of time with it.

Just remember, you can't give up. There will be months when your income is ridiculously low, especially in your first year. There'll be disappointing months even after you've been at it for years, as well. As with everything in life, there are highs and there are lows. The trick is not to allow yourself to, personally, become a roller coaster. Stay steady. Don't rise too high when things are going well (you'll have less of a fall when they dip again), but don't ever crash when things are down. Simply tell yourself, "It can only go up from here!"

When things do go bad, don't get discouraged, simply look for ways to make them better. That's the wonderful thing about being your own boss - you can try whatever you want to try, without permission. If you think you need to spend more time networking, do so. If you decide you need to generate more traffic by writing an article a day and submitting it to Ezine Articles.com, do that (personally, I think this one's golden). Do what it takes.

Persevere and remember that quitting isn't an option. Dedicate yourself to making your online business work and you'll amaze everyone around you, including yourself.

When it comes to working from home, remember the golden rule: Be serious if you want to be taken seriously.

May you have so much success that you aren't sure what to do with it all!

As someone once said, "Self isn't something one finds, it's something one creates." Self Help Daily would love to help YOU create a masterpiece!
